Common Questions

  • "Your reviews all look real positive, and I never see you guys bashing a vendor.  Do these companies pay you for your endorsements?"
    • We could sure use the income, but the answer is no - we are not paid in anyway by the vendors that we review.  We simply acknowledge that all of these companies invest a lot of time and money to get their products on the market and don't feel a need to blast them!  When we find things that need improvement, we say it nicely and let the score speak for itself.
  • "I've read reviews where you scored a product very high stating the installation went great, so I bought the product - but I had serious installation problems and got poor technical support from the vendor.  Can you explain this?"
    • Our machines are optimized for reviewing controllers and games.  Can you imagine the problems we could experience if we simply installed games over and over; controllers over and over; MS-Office and the other types of programs that are normally found on a system?  We must keep our systems optimized for reviewing, because we simply don't have time to waste trying to figure out configuration problems.  We can't possibly replicate all of the machines and software setups that the world has, especially when you consider all of the versions of video, DirectX, and sound drivers.  Our general result, is a smooth installation process with minimal issues.  We still experience problems, and when we do we mention them.  Suggestion: Read our reviews, then before you buy a product always go to the vendor's web site and try to find out what problems others are having.  If you suspect there may be a problem, contact the vendor's sales section and let them know what kind of system you have and ask if there are any problems with similar configurations.  Always try to have the latest drivers for Video, Sound, and DirectX - but use caution, and when in doubt... seek professional help.
  • "If I bookmark a review, will it still be there months down the road?"
    • A lot of effort goes into creating a review, and we plan to permanently keep all reviews online, even when the product is no longer in production.  We will continue to make every effort to make sure names of our pages don't change to help you bookmark, but if your bookmark goes away you should hunt the page you are looking for - starting with our front page.
  • "Why don't you display detailed information for ALL of the products listed?"
    • We provide detailed information in our reviews.  Aside from the reviewed products, we want to give you a quick directory of the products that are available, and point you to the appropriate vendor.  Our main objective is make it easier for you to find the game controller that will work best for you.
  • "I was looking at your controller page, and when I clicked the controller I only got a picture.  How do I get to see the review?"
    • Look in the rating column.  If there is a rating number in the column, click the link to go to the review.  Remember... when in doubt, find and click links and graphics to see where they take you.
  • "Why do you guys review some games that have been out for a while?"
    • Reviewing older games that our reviewers have used for a while gives you an opportunity to see the kinds of games the various contributors are into.
    • Games that have been out for a while generally are still in circulation, and many people (like the guys here) buy old games from the budget rack (if your sitting on the fence about a game, sometimes it's a good idea to wait until the price comes down).
