LAZ 3/17/2001  - This controller is a great contender in it's class. It is one of the best values out there. Read on to find out why.

LAZ Review Breakdown 86.1
First Impression This joystick has a look that really departs from the 'defacto' flight sticks. It has all of the essentials, and I was pumped to see how well it worked. 8.5
Software Installation As expected, the installation was very easy. The stick offers standard port and USB, and I went for the USB option. The manual takes you step-by-step through the simple install. 9.0
Software Controller Interface The interface is called the Gravis Xperience… and it is something to behold! This is the most innovative interface I have seen to date. The program design is unlike anything I have seen. It isn't your standard 'square' or 'rectangle' framed window - instead, this baby has some curves. It looks like something that came right out of a Star Wars movie.

Not only does the interface look impressive, but it is as functional as it appears. The menu options, help files, and configurations are exceptional.

9.9
Game Included No game shipped with this controller. 5.0
Help Instructions The help instructions are excellent. The controller comes with one of the best paper manuals of any controller I have seen to date. It is very simple to follow, and has many pictures (I am a visual guy, and I like the 'what you see is what you get' approach).

When you are in the Xperience interface, on screen help is only a click away. The on screen help is very detailed, and makes configurations and other issues, simple to resolve.

9.2
Comfort I can't say that this stick is my favorite (when talking about the actual comfort of the main grip), and it is not the worst. However, of all of the joysticks I've tested to date, I like this the best for button layout. I found all of the options very easy to get to - and really enjoyed playing with it. 8.5
Construction (Quality) Quality is something that I've yet to see Gravis sacrifice on any controller. This stick is no exception to that rule. It appears to be very durable, and endured extensive testing and held up beautifully. 9.0
Looks This controller doesn't look like the standard 'flight sticks' that you generally see. The red light that surrounds the hat looks very cool. I absolutely LOVE the fact that they put engraved button numbers on the buttons (1-8), making it easy to identify each button when you are assigning various tasks to each button. Everyone in the industry should follow suit - it would make it much easier for the average guy to use, without having to memorize which button number was assigned to which button. 8.0
Value (price for what you get) This controller is an exceptional value - when you consider all of the options it has: twist handle (for rudder) and twist lock, throttle lever, precision button, weapon scroll, standard and USB connection, and a 3 year warranty… all for $39.99. It is an excellent value. 9.5
Recommend to Others In this price range, it is hard to go wrong with this controller. 9.5
