ROBSTA 4/14/2002  - Welcome to Robsta’s gameroom. This is the room where all of the controllers have action buttons with a circle, square, triangle or an 'x' on them. I have heard rumors about other gamepads out there somewhere. If you are playing video games with one of these kind of controllers, I hope that you will wake-up soon and get a real controller in your hands. If you already have an 'x' button tattooed on your right thumb, than you need to check out what I have ready for review… the Nostromo p45.

Nostromo for Life? 88
First Impression If there is one thing that I like to see when I am shopping is the actual controller, and not a picture on a box or an advertisement in a department store flyer. The p45 comes in a clear plastic package, so you can see what you are buying with your hard earned bucks. When you see the p45 hanging on a display in a store, it won’t take you to long to see the LIFETIME WARRANTY decal on the front of the package. This is a real eye opener for the gamer that is gaming for many years to come. Robsta feels that this is a long time to have any controller, so the p45 will receive 10 points and start out the most impressive way possible 10.0
Game(s) Included The Nostromo p45 does not come with a game, so it will receive the maximum of 5 points. This is a good way to keep the cost of the controller to a minimum. 5.0
Looks The Nostromo p45 has a distinctive look all of its own. While maintaining the standard Playstation controller configuration, the action buttons and D-pad are on a separate block of plastic than the rest of the gamepad. The silver stabilizer bar looks great connected to the lower part of the handles which are black in front, and purple on the backside. Robsta will stare at 9 points for the p45 as it continues to put good numbers on the board. 9.0
Comfort If there is one thing that the true hardcore gamer needs to be is comfortable while playing their favorite games. Whether you measure your gaming time by hours, laps, levels, innings, or quarters the Nostromo p45 will let you feel as if you have just started - even when the game is over. Don’t forget to take those snack breaks every so often, it will make it easier on your eyes. Robsta will give up 8 points to the p45 and get ready to burn my thumbs up on 3 slammin’ periods of NHL POWERPLAY ’96… GAME ON!!! 8.0
Construction The Nostromo p45 appears to have been designed like the standard Playstation controller, only it has a sweet 21st century look to it. I found solid play throughout each of the analog buttons and joysticks. I was waiting for the vibration feedback to hit me a little harder in the hands and it never did. Robsta has built 13 points to add to the total and finds the p45 heading to the top of the scoreboard. 13.0
Playability I decided to take a step back in time and play some games from 'back in the day'. After playing the hockey game I was ready to check out the baseball game that we have played series after series…TRIPLE PLAY ’99. It seems like an eternity since I had a good look at that famous SEATTLE MARINER lineup with A-Rod, Griffey Jr., Edgar, and Buhner. I had a good feeling that running the bases and chasing balls down in the outfield would be an excellent test for the new gamepad. It seemed very touchy at first, but then almost every 8-way D-pad is not that easy to control in a straight line which is kind of important when you are running out to the fence to jump as high as you can to take one away from Bonds, Sosa, or Mcguire. With a little game time, you'll get it down.

The next game I found in the gameroom was RETURN FIRE. Of course I had to find the memory card with all of the saved multiple levels from days gone by. The Playstation was already warmed up so I knew that going into battle with helicopters, tanks, ASV’s and humvees would not be a problem. This game is a superb test for all of the action buttons and both joysticks. Just flying the helicopter alone requires the use of every button on your controller. When you are playing at level twenty something you NEED every button that you have. Thanks to some quick decision making and a little luck with shooting those pesky enemy drones, I was able to hunt down and blow up the enemy flag tower, retrieve my humvee, cruise back to get the flag and then return to my bunker to win the game! When it was all over I realized that I was so in tuned with the game I forgot there was a new p45 in my hands. It felt like it was just meant to be in my hands. Robsta has played with 14 points for the p45 as it puts another towering number up on the scoreboard.

Value (price for what you get) Here is where I compare what you get with what you paid for. It is hard to believe that the Nostromo p45 is under $20. To think that you can get a gamepad that looks good, feels good, and works good and comes with a LIFETIME GUARANTEE… all this for about half the price of most video games. Talk about a smokin’ deal! When you see one in the store don’t even hesitate, just throw one in your shopping cart. Robsta has 14.5 big points that goes along with the p45, so don’t be surprised if you find them in your cart! 14.5
Recommend to Others Oh by the way! I haven’t mentioned that the p45 also has a macro button. That’s Right! This is one of the first things that I have told the INSIDERS about, because this function adds so much to your game. You can do multiple moves with the push of a couple buttons at the same time. A 'must have' feature for those who are into games that are capable of linking consecutive moves one after another without having to memorize 10 or 15 different buttons in a specific sequence just to pull off the trick you want to create all by yourself. These tricks are much easier to do with a gamepad that has a macro button system on it. This is just one more reason for you to get one too! Robsta will hand out 14.5 points to the Nostromo p45 and keep recommending it to each gamer that can find me.

I hope that you will enjoy all 88 points of this controller as much as I did.

RECOMMENDATIONS to the Vendor

ROBSTA
The only things that I could see to improve on would be a longer cord connecting the controller to the system, and maybe some harder hitting motors in the handles - so I can feel the full punch that each game really packs.
